Warhammer 40K: Lion El’Johnson Rules Revealed

The Lion returns to the 41st millennium…

Lion El’Johnson Profile shot

With the long rumoured return of the Dark Angels Primarch finally revealed during last weeks AdeptiCon, Games Workshop have today given us a glimpse into El’Johnson’s fighting prowess.

Dispute having missed the last 10,000 years, the Lion hasn’t gained a single but of rust. So as the might of the Imperium gears up towards the Tyranid threat, the Dark Angels get the return of their monolithic leader.

Core stats

Much like his Ultramarine brother, Robute Guilliman, Lion El’Johnson has some pretty impressive stats. What sets him apart from Guilliman is both his attack rating (10), and his prowess with the Fealty sword. Utilising both of the swords skills with a pretty powerful armour penetration of -3, and -5 means in the right hands Lion is going to be one impressive model.

Fealty skills and statistics

Of course any skilled warrior of the 41st millennium needs a bit of defence to back them up, and following the tradition of Guilliman, El’Johnson has a piece of their fathers wargear too. Wielding the Emperor’s shield (which has caused quite the debate on social media), El’Johnson gets a +4 invulnerable save, and is able to deflect moves back to his attacker on any unmodified roll of 6. Going further this then inflicts a mortal wound on the attacker.

Meanwhile the Forestwalk ability then allows the Dark Angel Primarch to reinforce, and then charge head first into any threat that comes his way.

The Warhammer Comminity team have also revealed that the unanswered questions to the how’s and why’s of Lion El’Johnson’s return will be fully revealed in the books The Lion: Som of the Forest, and Arks of Omen: The Lion (where he battles Angron!)

The Lion boxset contents

While the exact date of the miniatures release still remains a guarded secret, the Community Team have revealed that the first release will come with three Bladeguard Veterans, and two pieces of artwork. Meanwhile, the solo Lion El’Johnson will come on his own later on this year.
