Video Game Review - Marauders [Early Access]

Rob reviews Marauders [Early Access] on Steam... Marauders  is a first-person looter-shooter that's been developed by Small Impact Games and published by the indie powerhouse, Team 17.  Currently enrolled on Steam's Early Access programme, Marauders' development will be greatly improved by those who take up the call to head into space. As such the game we review now will no doubt change and evolve as it rolls towards its inevitable version 1.0.  While that's quite a way into the future. What's the game like now? And is it worth investing in?  Marauders tell the tale of an alternative version of humanity. Set in 1992, the Great War never ended and with planet Earth being hospitable, humanity colonised the stars. Rather than ushering in a time of peace, those past grudges have continued to fester and the war rumbles on. Now roaming bands of pirates from many sides, scavenge and fight over the scraps of technology and supplies needed to survive the vast cos

Comic Book Review - Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #101

Rob reviews Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #101... A new era for the Power Rangers starts here as Melissa Flores takes over the controls from long-standing Power Rangers scribe, Ryan Parrott . And after reading issue #101, with Flores,  the Rangers are in great hands.  Kicking off the ' Recharged Era ' Flores takes us on a trip back into Zordon's past - 10,000 years to be exact. Rita Repulsa has been captured and Zordon attempts one last time to appeal to the goodness that dwells inside. Ever the villain, Rita uses this moment to strike Zordon with the curse that will see him confined to the containment chamber. Shocked awake in the present and it's this encounter that remains etched onto Zordon's mind. As such he tasks Alpha to continuously scan the Moon as he fears Rita's words of never-ending conflict could be correct.  Meanwhile, not content with trusting the Pocket Dimension (see Mighty Morphin #22), the Rangers are utilising their all

Comic Book Review - This Comic Is Haunted

Rob reviews This Comic Is Haunted... This Comic Is Haunted is the ghoulish new anthology from the folks over at The77 Publications . Welding the executioner's axe for this horror-filled anthology of the dead is Dave Heeley , who along with art director Andrew Richmond have become slaves to the mysterious 'Grey Phantom'.  With the Phantom offering their freedom in exchange for gathering a fiendish menagerie of writers and artists, Heeley and Richmond got to work.  Now with the finished article in our hands, it's time we gazed into the Grey Phantom's lair... The Lodger (Jo Heeley, Ian Stoppforth) Kicking things off is a superb suspenseful horror bought to us by writer Jo Heeley and artist Ian Stoppforth . The Lodger tells the tale of a simple council welfare check that soon turns strange. Across this opening episode, we follow Council Housing Officer, Jan as she's called to the Helleston Estate - a seemingly normal block of flats. With a distraught

Video Game Review - Thymesia

Rob reviews Thymesia on Xbox Series X... As a Soulsborne fan, the genre is becoming a little too saturated. While big hitters such as Elden Ring, Bloodborne, and Dark Souls remain the heads of the hard-core table, there's always one waiting in the shadows.  OverBoarder Studios' third-person action RPG, Thymesia is a great example of this. Its flashy, fast-paced combat, mixed with the need for patience and confidence has all the hallmarks to be something great. Yet it's all a bit forgettable.  Thymesia 's story follows a menacing-looking chap called Corvus, a pretty plain protagonist who's also lost his memory. Not only this, but a plague is sweeping across the lands. A plague that either kills its victims outright or mutates them into a foul creature. Corvus, along with his childlike ally, then has to (for reasons) battle the plague monsters whilst regaining his lost memories.  Much like other Soulsborne titles, Thymesia is pretty short on its narrative

Video Game Review - Live By The Sword: Tactics

Rob reviews Live By The Sword: Tactics on Steam... As the name suggests  Live By The Sword: Tactics is   a game about "tactics". Across its ample playtime, you'll lead your party through plenty of grid-based environments, whilst tackling the enemies in front of you. It's chock full of in-game lore, a fairly robust story, and a great mixture of new and classic mechanics. So, why do I feel conflicted?  To begin with, Live By The Sword: Tactics is one of many titles that live in Steam's Early Access program. What this means is that while the game is playable, the folks over at Labrador Games are continuing to tweak and add to the game. While Live By The Sword: Tactics shows plenty of potentials, it's not quite reached them... The game begins in a forest where a father had brought his two sons to train them on some basic survival skills. Acting as the game's tutorial this section teaches you the fundamentals of the game as if you're two youngst

Comic Book Review - 2000 AD Prog 2303

Rob reviews 2000 AD Prog 2303... After a few week's hiatus, I'm back with another look inside the 'Galaxy's Greatest comic book!  Luke Horsman graces the cover this week with a gorgeous rendition of Cavan Scott 's Enemy Earth. Meanwhile, joining Enemy Earth is Judge Dredd :  Buratino Must Die,  Chimpsky’s Law: A Terrifically Disturbing Adventure,  Hope...In The Shadows: Reel Two, and Hershey: The Cold In The Bones.  Judge Dredd: Buratino Must Die - Part 1 Rob Williams is back with another Dredd tale, and it serves to tie up the threads from End of Days.  After helping Dredd tackle the Four Horsemen, Dredd brought Sov Psi-Judges Issaks, and Buratino back to Mega-City One. Seeking asylum in MC1, the two Sovs have since taken up residence inside a top-secret bunker - with Ichabod Azrael's talking horse, and the sentient Sov War-Droid (Prog 2299) as company . Now, Buratino and Issaks are back. And it seems that the Psi-Judges have been biding their time
