Comic Book Review - Something Is Killing The Children #22

Rob reviews Something Is Killing The Children #22... James Tynion IV' s blockbuster; Something Is Killing The Children has entered its second story arc. With the events of Archer's Peak well in the past, Erica Slaughter has moved on to another town that has a monster problem. Yet in doing so she's caught the attention of the 'House of Cutter' who are sending their unique agent to apprehend her.  After the first series, and the House of Slaughter spin-off you'd think that James Tynion and Werther Dell'Edera would have shown us everything there is when it comes to gore. Yet, Something Is Killing The Children #22  manages to break this mould in a new - and horrific way. The opening pages introduce us to slaughter as Human and monster bodies lay in twisted positions across a house. What makes this more extreme, is that a couple have their eyes pinned open and there are splashes of blood everywhere.  Before you can fully grasp what did th

Video Game Review - Taito Milestones

Rob reviews Taito Milestones' on Nintendo Switch... Taito Milestones' is a collection of 10 groundbreaking titles that helped to cement Taito 's arcade dominance throughout the late '70s, the '80s, and '90s. Powered by Hamster 's ' Arcade Archives ', Taito Milestones  is a look into an important era of gaming's past.  When it comes to re-releasing vintage titles the emulation can go one of two ways. You'll either be presented with the bare-bones minimum that captures the original release's spirit. Or you'll get all of this, with the added comforts of some modern gaming enhancements. For Taito Milestones ' it's the former - albeit with some enhancements such as the ability to interim save. But with 10 "milestone" titles available, this collection is a decent look into Taito 's other titles that are not; Space Invaders, Bubble Bobble , or Arkanoid.  Taito Milestones ' is a rare curiosity rather than

Comic Book Review - 2000 AD Prog 2279

Past Crimes, Will The Truth Finally Surface?... Things start to alow down this week as we head into Regened territory for next week's Prog: 2280.  While "some" of the collective readership moan and groan - it's not that bad! Not only do we get two new strips from David Bennett and Karl Stock , but  Anna Morozova is also back too! Anyway, I'm getting ahead of myself.  The main takeaway from Prog 2279 is that John Wagner 's tale of two Dredds - 'The Citadel' - reaches its conclusion. Was it as game-changing as we were lead to believe? Well, keep reading to find out. Joining ' The Citadel ' this week is the usual line-up of Hope In The Shadows, Brink, and Fiends Of The Eastern Front.  However, joining these is a special Future Shocks that sees the debuts of this year's Thought Bubble winners; Honor Vincent and Lee Milmore .  Judge Dredd: The Citadel - Part 10 (Final Part) Since the arrival of the other "Dredd", John Wag

Video Game Review - Ember Knights (Early Access)

Rob reviews Ember Knights on PC... Recently rogue-lites have gained an increase in popularity. Since Hades (and the success it brought with it) there's been an abundance of titles released that fall into the genre. What Zagarus' adventure through the Underworld brought was a sense of progression - even if you've previously failed X amount of times. Failure was never seen as a chore and with every run, our Prince of Darkness got stronger. Naturally, this simple learn-hard to master gameplay has been adopted by many other rogue sites. And it's also the gameplay mechanic that drives Doom Turtle and Asmodee Digital 's; Ember Knights .  Currently enjoying a spell in Steam's Early Access, Ember Knights is a four-player co-op action rogue-lite. With the developer planning on bringing more content to this world during its Early Access period - Ember Knights is already showing promise to build upon its rock-solid foundations.  Ember Knights tell the tale

Comic Book Review - Power Rangers #18

Rob reviews Power Rangers #18... News of the Omega Ranger's desire to protect the universe has spread far and wide. With two distress calls being received at the same time, the group decide to tackle both. As Zack and Trini encounter a seemingly derelict spacecraft, Jason and Yale discover a familiar face.  This issue splits its time in following both teams Zack & Trini, and team Jason & Yale as the response to both distress calls. Zack and Trini find themselves amid a conspiracy as they discover a wrecked spacecraft, complete with its long-dead crew. As the duo wonder, if they've walked into a trap, a colossal creature heads straight for the craft and has its sights set on the Rangers. What follows is a well-choreographed action scene as Trini and Zack battle this "space dragon" in their Omega Zords. There's a lot of back and forth as Zack uses humour to hide his nerves, as Trini channels her inner Daenerys Targaryen to ride the dragon into su

Comic Book Review - 2000 AD Prog 2278

Descend into the dark... Another week has flown by, which means Tharg is back with another glorious trip into the thrillers.  It's quite the Prog this week. Not only are we up to the penultimate episode of Judge Dredd: The Citadel , but we also say bon appetite to the Intestinauts. However... Fiends of the Eastern Front, Brink , and Hope In The Shadows are staying with us.  So with that said and done, strap in, grab a cup of synthetic brew, and join me as I take a look at 2000 AD Prog 2278!  Judge Dredd: The Citadel - Part 9  Hands up who had another Dredd on their Citadel bingo card? Sadly I didn't see this one coming (I had a much darker plot in mind) and as such their reveal was quite a surprise.  No spoilers, but is everything as it seems? With one episode left to go, could Wagner pull out another surprise?  Regardless, The Citadel has been a fun read. It's not often we get a Judge Dredd strip that makes you itch to see what happens next. Thankfully we

Comic Book Review - Mighty Morphin #18

Rob reviews Mighty Morphin #18... Still dealing with the aftermath of the Eltarian War, the forces on Earth are starting to rebuild. Whilst the rest of the Rangers have set off for deep space, Rocky had been left on Earth to defend against any threats that may arise. With Matt alongside, Rocky not only has to contend with protecting a defenceless Zordon but he's also got to grapple with his meaning of what it means to be a Power Ranger... Much like the previous issue, Mighty Morphin #18 takes a fragmented approach to its story. While most of the Earth-based team are on Aegus V searching for a replacement Command Center, Rocky is left on Earth to babysit his siblings. It's these two narratives that Groom jumps to throughout.  The issue opens with Zordon returning home to what's left of his "castle". It's quite a poignant scene as the once-powerful Eltarian has been reduced to a literal head in a jar. Not only this but he's entruste
