Comic Book Review - Proteus Vex: Another Dawn

Rob reviews Proteus Vex: Another Dawn... As Proteus Vex: Desire Paths heads to its conclusion within the weekly Prog, it's time to head back to where it all began with this collection of the first two-story arcs.  Created by Mike Carroll and Henry Flint , Proteus Vex tells a tale in the wake of an intergalactic war between the Alliance Ascendant and the Obdurate Empire. After 14 centuries the war reached its conclusion as the Alliance teleported a dying star into the Obdurate System. As a result of mass genocide, the Alliance stands victorious, and the Obdurate on the brink of extinction. This event also forms the backbone of the whole Proteus Vex narrative and its effect is still shaping the galaxy within the recent  'Desire Paths' story.   Our main viewpoint throughout this saga is Proteus Vex, agent of the Imperium Ascendant, and around the force of good. But like every good protagonist - Vex has secrets of his own, and it's one that soon p

Comic Book Review - The Magic Order 2 #6

Rob reviews The Magic Order 2 #6... Mark Millar has crafted The Magic Order 2 like a brutal magic show. Over the series, we've seen plenty of illusions, mysteries, and tricks of the mind as Millar and Stuart Immonen have sent us on a mystical tour of emotion. But like every good show, the curtains will eventually fall. And for The Magic Order 2, Millar has saved the best till last!  The action kicks off with Cordelia and her Magic Order chums deep in their battle with Viktor Korne and his followers. Krone has managed to summon the mythical demon; Othoul'Endu and is poised to finally take out the Order and then rule the wider world. But in true Millar fashion, it's not that simple.  We then take a trip to the past as we see Soran Korne attempt the same plan 1000-years ago. This time around. However, on the cusp of defeat, the Lovecraftian terror retreats into its dimension, thus the proto-Order defeat Soran and as they say "the rest is history". Sadly

Comic Book Review - Something Is Killing The Children #21

Rob reviews Something Is Killing The Children #21... James Tynion IV and Werther Dell'Edera 's phenomenal tale of monsters, children, and secret hunting organisations is back for its next series. But rather than focus on the series stalwart; Erica Slaughter - Tynion switches focus to the new protagonist - Gabi.  Much like Erica's own introduction - 20 issues ago, Gabi is portrayed as a strong young woman who doesn't take any s**t. As the issue ends she's certainly been through her fair share already, but as we already know it's going to get a whole lot worse. While Tynion opens this issue with the damage already done, he does take us back to past events. And boy! If you thought Archers Peak was bad, just wait... So, with a new protagonist, you need a new antagonist. As such we're introduced to this "thing" in that typical brutal fashion that makes Something Is Killing The Children what it is. While Werther Dell'Edera &

Comic Book Review - 2000 AD Prog 2275

Rob reviews 2000 AD Prog 2275... Borag Thungg! Another week has passed which means it's time to delve into this week's offering of 2000 AD goodness!  With last week's departure of the brilliant third series of Proteus Vex,  there's an opening in the schedule. Fear not as this has been replaced by another Intestinauts tale by Arthur Wyatt and Pye Parr .  Judge Dredd: The Citadel - Part 6 Dredd and his rag-tag group have reached the Citadel; an old conference hub that's been converted into a Sov Intelligence torture centre. Without wasting too much time Dredd tasks the Cadets to take out the guards and get inside.  With certain death on the line, it falls to Dredd to give his ailing squad a serious pep talk. Not only does this paint Dredd as an absolute badass, but it also highlights just how dangerous the mission is going to be.  It's another great showing from John Wagner and the team .  Everything effortlessly rolls in this issue as Wagner allows D

Comic Book Review - Batman: Beyond The White Knight

Rob reviews Batman: Beyond The White Knight... Taking place 10-years after the events seen within  Batman: Curse of the White Knight, writer Sean Murphy brings us a version of Bruce Wayne - and Gotham City - that's very alien to the one we already know. Now known as "Neo-Gotham", Derek Powers has utilised the Wayne Families fortune - and Bat-Tech - to turn the once metropolis into a police state. With Bruce Wayne currently in prison, Batman is now a symbol of Powers' totalitarian regime. Neo-Gotham needs someone to give it hope. But is it Bruce Wayne or could it be Terry McGinnis?  Batman: Beyond The White Knight sets off on its journey in a blockbuster fashion. We join Terry McGinnis as he's led into the ruins of Wayne Manor in search of the one Batman suit Bruce was too scared to use. Naturally, this turns out to be the Batman Beyond suit, and as such McGinnis unwittingly uses powers to effortlessly dispatch the G.T.O. team sent in to investigate hi

Video Game Review - Submerged: Hidden Depths

Rob reviews Submerged: Hidden Depths on PlayStation 4... Submerged: Hidden Depths is one of those rare games that offers a wealth of simplistic gameplay, with a deep narrative core. The core experience allows you to explore a vast sunken city at your own pace without fear of reprisal from enemies and the like. Whilst it doesn't have the scope - or necessary depth - of other big open-world games, there's enough here to give you a satisfying experience.  The story of Submerged: Hidden Depths revolves around siblings; Miku and Taku. A strange substance dubbed the Black Mass has taken over the world, and as such has caused an exponential rise in sea levels. The siblings soon realise that by collecting strange seeds they can bring life back to the world, and convert the Black Mass into something more friendly. As such you'll traverse this vast expanse in search of these mystical seeds.  Your first steps into this aquatic world may seem a little daunting
