Comic Book Review - Heat Seeker: A Gun Honey Series #1

Rob Reviews Heat Seeker: A Gun Honey Series #1… Charles Ardai is back in the high octane world of Joanna Tan as he teams up with Ace Continuado  to bring a spin-off to the Gun Honey series.  Centring on new character Dahlia Races, Ardai now has the scope to expand his world away from Joanna Tan in quite an interesting way. While Tan is now marked by the US Intelligence Agency, Races has a penchant to make wanted people simply disappear. It’s both sides of this coin that fuel this action-packed opening issue, as Dahlia Races gets dragged into the murky world that follows Joanna Tan. Ardai kicks this opening issue off to a flying start. From the opening page, we’re thrown into Dahlia Races’ world. It’s one full of distractions and subterfuge as we follow her on her latest job. From seemingly eliminating her target, it soon turns out that rather than being a cold blooded assassin, Dahlia would rather her targets were still breathing. With the job done, it’s back to New York where we catch

Video Game Review - The Last Worker

Rob reviews The Last Worker on PlayStation 5… Simulation games are now quite a common thing. Gone are the days of the simple flight sim, and now we have the likes of Lawnmower Simulator, House Flipper, Power Wash Simulator, and many more. One profession that hasn’t made its way to video game format is the humble shelf picker. You know, those hidden in the jungle of the warehouse making sure that our boxes of online shopping get to us on time while their companies owner pretends to play Star Trek with William Shatner.  Anyway, while The Last Worker isn’t a true simulation title, it is based around the thankless work of a online order fulfilment worker. In fact your the last worker left in the thriving economy that’s Jüngle. Clearly a play on the retailers Amazon and IKEA, Jüngle is an online shopping portal that’s reach is world wide. Inside the mass warehouses it’s a dog eat dog world as employees fight for their jobs against each other, and a world that’s becoming more automated. As

Video Game Review - Tin Hearts

Rob reviews Tin Hearts on PlayStation 5… It’s been a busy few weeks for myself, and sadly as a result my coverage of video games has been a little behind schedule. For this I apologise, and going forward - for now - I’m probably going to have to be selective about what titles I review. Realising as a one-person-band I can’t do everything all at once.  Anyway, with that out of the way, what better way to mark my return to consistent video game reviews with Tin Hearts.  Coming from publisher Wired Productions and developers Rogue Sun Games (which features some of the team behind Fable) , Tin Hearts is a charming and heartwarming game about toy soldiers.  Set against the backdrop of Victorian England, Tin Hearts follows the narrative of inventor Albert J. Butterworth. Told via clues within the environment, notes left behind by the inventor, and a wealth of cut scenes, you’ll discover the life and times of Albert as you navigate your toy soldiers across various obstacles. It’s quite a tale

Video Game Review - Replikator

Rob reviews Replikator on Nintendo Switch… Replikator is a title that’s worthy to call itself a rogue-like. It’s a punishing game that’ll have you roaming around procedurally generated space stations, fighting all manner of nasty enemies, and avoiding insidious traps. Whether you head into the gauntlet cautiously, or throw this caution to the wind, one things a certainty - you will die…a lot!  Developed by R-Games and Maridian4, with publishing falling to indie game powerhouse, Ratalika Games , Replikator isn’t a game that’ll change the formula for rogue-likes yet to come. But, it doesn’t really need to. Instead it’s a simple rogue-like that builds upon the solid foundations that have already been laid by its forbearers.  Taking place in the future, Replikator places you into the boots of a mercenary who finds themselves up against a rogue AI. Much like Skynet, this AI sees humanity as a threat, and it’s up to you to fight through its defences and ultimately turn it off. However, with

Comic Book Review - The Best of 2000 AD Vol. 3

Rob reviews The Best of 2000 AD Vol.3… The ‘Ultimate Mix-Tape’ of 2000 AD’s greatest hits is back for its third volume. Packed with an array of specially curated strips,  The Best of 2000 AD series does its very best in introducing you to the world of Tharg, and his Thrillverse. Much like its predecessors, this volume offers up an enticing mixture of strips and feature that draw across all corners of the wider 2000 AD mythos. While we do get a couple of standard trips to Mega-City 1 with Judge Dredd, series Editor Owen Johnson shows us the anthologies more “Tales of the Unexplained” side as things get a little bizarre.  Personally, this third volume has been my favourite out of the series so far. Not only does it feature a Judge Dredd written by Michael Carroll, we also have the debut of Ian Edginton  and D’Israeli. While you’d think that Johnson would of opted to include the duo’s phenomenal Scarlet Traces, he’s instead swapped the Earth/Mars war for the Atlantic Ocean, as we get a mu
