Resident Evil 3: Nemesis (1999) Review — Why Jill Valentine’s Fight for Survival Still Matters In 2025

Image
It feels a little surreal to be talking about Resident Evil 3: Nemesis in 2025. Yet thanks to the titles imminent release as part of the PlayStation Plus Classics offering, here we are.  Originally released in 1999 for the PlayStation, this third entry in Capcom’s survival horror juggernaut is now making its way onto the PlayStation Plus Classics Collection, giving players old and new a chance to dive into one of the most memorable chapters in the Resident Evil  franchise.  For some, Resident Evil 3 was “the other” sequel, not quite as celebrated as Resident Evil 2, which had wowed gamers a year earlier with its ambitious dual campaigns and cinematic flair. In the golden age of PlayStation horror when fixed camera angles and clunky controls were just part of the charm, Parasite Eve II stood out as something… stranger. It wasn’t just horror. It wasn’t just an RPG. It wasn’t even a clean sequel, it was a pivot - an evolution in more ways than one. Aya Brea, a young New York cop with her own mysterious cellular gifts, ends up at the...

Taking inspiration from a wealth of 80s and 90s comic books, Capes throws players into the murky streets of King City. With bad guys to beat and a wealth of memorable supes to command, King City is a comic book reader's fever dream. Capes takes place within a world where the good guys lost. Ever since a shadowy group called The Company took control of King City “capes” have been outlawed. Anyone who displays a form of superpower or ability is deemed a vigilante and is at mercy to the full force of The Company’s power. The ordinary citizens who call King City their home are also under the spell of propaganda set by The Company that leads them to the belief that all superheroes are bad. Naturally, those who rule The Company just so happen to be a cadaver of supervillains who are quite literally ruling with an iron fist.  As...
