Comic Book Review - 2000 AD Prog 2249

Rob checks out 2000 AD Prog 2249...

This week sees the end to many of the usual suspects as Tharg cleans house for next weeks jumping on the issue - Prog 2250.
Coming with 2250 sees the return of Scarlet Traces, The Diaboliks, Pandora Perfect, and the sci-fi hit - The Out.

But beforehand we've still got to deal with The House on Bleaker Street, Skip Tracer, Tharg's 3Rillers, Jaegir, and joining them for this Prog, a one-off Terror Tales.

Judge Dredd - The House on Bleaker Street - Part 3 (Final Part)

Dredd's investigation into the happenings of Bleaker Street concludes. The House on Bleaker Street is a prime example of a story that could have gone on a lot longer than it did. Ken Niemand and Nick Percival have done a grand job in creating a Hammer Horror tale within the high-tech atmosphere of MegaCity-1.

The tale of an "evil block computer" - sorry, I mean the leftovers of Necropolis - has been a great three-parter. And what's not to like about Percival's very unique art?

Tharg's 3Rillers: The Mask of Laverna - Part 3 (Final Part)

As expected this one ends abruptly with a cliffhanger for yet another outing of Adelphi the Oracle. Robert Murphy's tale has been a decent 3Riller, yet it falls into the trap of not exactly wrapping things up.

Anyway, what we do get is some great artwork by Steve Austin and the set-up of a return - or a full series for Adelphi?

Skip Tracer: Eden - Part 12 (Final Part)

Tears of sadness? Or tears of joy? To the delight of many, Skip Tracer is ending once more. While Eden has attempted to go into a more risky direction, it soon went back into the tried and tested Skip Tracer method of storytelling.

So, Eden is now another variable within Nathan Blake's universe. She's inherited her Father's power and is arguably more powerful. With the Consociation suffering yet another setback, how long before they try again?

As sci-fi stories go, James Peaty does deliver some great moments. Yet it all feels a little "safe".

Terror Tales: The Thing in Cell 4 (One Shot)

The Thing in Cell 4 is more Futureshock than Terror Tale. It's a great 6-page yarn that's full of sci-fi madness that makes you think.

John Tomlinson does a great job with both the plot and pacing throughout, and it's all backed up by some great black & white work by Silvia Califano.

Jaegir: The Path of Kali - Part 3 (Final Part)

Much like The Mask of Laverna, The Path of Kali has been a great three-part set-up for a much grander return in a future Prog.

It's certainly been an interesting set-up with hints of bioweapons and strange dreams. As Gordon Rennie turns his attention towards the incoming Diaboliks storyline - I hope we don't have to wait too long for Jaegir's return.
