Every now and then, a comic enters my airspace that reminds me why the medium is a pretty powerful storyteller. The Gloriously Untrue Adventures of Sapphira is one of those discoveries. It is unpredictable, self-aware, and strangely emotional. It’s the sort of book that defies every rule of structure yet somehow feels entirely complete by the final page. Written and illustrated by Sapphira Olson , this opening issue drops you into a world that feels half dream and half diary. A mysterious goddess narrates her own strange existence, while a space kitten drifts through her reality like a spark of chaos. It sounds ridiculous when you try to describe it out loud, but that is part of its charm. Olson uses absurdity as a language of truth, exploring identity and creativity through humour and vivid bursts of imagination. What struck me first about this journey was how alive it feels. Comic Book Review - Power Rangers #3

Rob Lake reviews Power Rangers #3... Things are looking bleak for the Omega Rangers. Their ship is stranded powerless in deep space and the Horrid are running amok throughout. With no backup, and Drakkon seemingly betraying the Rangers to the Horrid. It seems all hope is lost. Or is it? Much like it's Mighty Morphin counterpart,  Power Rangers has been a blast so far. With the opening issue seeing the Omega Rangers apparent betrayal of Zordon by freeing Drakkon from his prison, has now skyrocketed into a Power Ranger sci-fi horror. Power Rangers #2 had the Omega Rangers scurrying around their powerless spaceship whilst the Horrid stalked its halls. Then with Drakkon being Drakkon, the supervillain seems to side with the Horrid.  This is what makes Drakkon quite the character. Ryan Parrott doesn't give us much when it comes to Drakkon's intentions with the Horrid. Is he taking the opportunity to betray the Rangers? Or is he playing the Horrid at their own game? ...

Rob Lake reviews Judge Dredd: End of Days... Judge Dredd: End of Days is the complete collection of 2000AD's Dredd epic of 2020. This TPB collects the complete 15-episode globe-spanning - End of Days , as well as two epilogues - Carry The Nine & They Shoot Horses Don't They?.  It's classic Dredd as he teams up with a talking horse, a severed head and a character from 2000AD's history. Yes, End of Days has it all... End of Days  has all the hallmarks of classic Dredd. There's plenty of action, crazy moments, the bizarre and lots and lots of twists and turns. It's also helmed by Rob Williams , who isn't a stranger to writing a superb Dredd tale ( Small House, Titan and Control) .
