Comic Book Review - 2000 AD Prog 2232

Rob reviews 2000 AD Prog 2232...

With the second Regened Prog of 2021 just around the corner, Prog 2232 sees Tharg start to hand the reigns over to Joko-Jargo.

As such things start to wind down this week as we say "goodbye" to Judge Dredd: Easy Money, Thistlebone, and Intestinauts. However, it's not all bad as we get more from Feral and Foe and a one-off Terrortales

So, before Regened hits us next week (I can already hear the moans and groans), let's get on with the show...

Judge Dredd: Easy Money - Part 2

Aldalisa Brown has money and lots of it. There's just one problem...it's from being the fourth-largest manufacturer and distributor of high-grade narcotics within the Northern Sector of MegaCity-1. And as such brings her into conflict with a certain Judge...

Mike Carroll's take on MegaCity-1's organised crime sadly comes to its end. I would have loved for this to have run for longer, and I hope Carroll can continue the story in some shape or form. 'Easy Money is one of those stories that doesn't feature too much Dredd (is there such a thing?) - and it works for lack of him too.

Tharg's 3Rillers: Intestinauts - Symbiotic Love Triangle - Part 3

The tale of a symbiote suit, bowel inhabiting nano-bots, and a lost love come to its end. Intestinauts has been a pretty interesting tale and it's one that's entertained throughout.
You have to feel sorry for the symbiote suit whose life seems to forfeit without its host.

Overall it been three parts of daft, bowel exploring fun. Arthur Wyatt has given us quite a unique tale with Pye Parr delivering some great sci-fi art.

Feral and Foe II - Part 9

Our hapless trio has finally arrived at their destination - and it's been quite the journey. A journey that Krogun and Wraith have had to endure with Bode in tow. With the Chalice of Malice insight all they've got to do is get past its guard - the Balerock.

Of course, this wouldn't be Feral and Foe if things didn't go wrong and they most certainly do. The thing is that the mighty Balerock is suffering from a case of the blues. Throw in a deep and meaningful conversation and the group may just find a new friend.

Dan Abnett and Richard Elson continue to work wonders. It all Dungeons & Dragons with a mixture of Eastenders, with some gorgeous art from Elson.

Terror Tales: Dry Spells

This one feels a little too close to home what with the ongoing issues with Rogue Landlords and flammable cladding. Thankfully John Tomlinson throws in some folklore to detract from real life.

A property manager is found floating face down in his swimming pool, and as such his rival retreats into her custom-built hideaway. But as we soon discover...she's not alone.

It's a great twist as this one goes to the weird side and it's all backed up with some great art by Steve Austin.

Thistlebone: Poisoned Roots - Part 12

The final 2-3 parts to 'Poisoned Roots' have brought the horror aspect home. From Seema learning of that fatal camping trip to then being abducted by Kinniburgh. It's all lead to this point.

The Harrovale Woods are certainly a place that's shrouded in a great mystery and it's one that both Eglinton and Davis have only scratched the surface of. I hope we get a third series as this one got a lot more to give.

But for the final time...Malcolm Kinniburgh!

Rating 8/10
