Kickstarter Spotlight - Space Bastards

Rob Lake checks out Space Bastards...

I'm back once again with another Kickstarter Spotlight. This time in the spotlight is Space Bastards Vol. 2 by Eric Peterson and Joe Aubrey.

Space Bastards Vol. 2 is a high-octane, outrageous comic, filled with murderous mailmen, angry accountants, terrible mentors, aliens, space pirates, betrayal and a whole lot of punching?

From that description alone Space Bastards Vol. 2 sounds like my sort of comic! And that's not before we see who's part of the over-sized hardcover comic book!

With included works by 2000AD Alumni Boo Cook, Colin MacNeil and Clint Langley, and backed up by co-creator Darick Robertson, Space Bastards Vol. 2 is shaping up to already be a must-have for anyone's collection. Just looking at the artwork on display on the campaign page sucks you into hitting that "Back This Project" button.

So, what exactly is Space Bastards?

"In the future, violence is everywhere. Corporations are exploiting the weak and disenfranchised. And while America has taken to the cosmos, unemployment is rampant, infrastructure is crumbling, and basic services are unreliable. Getting mail between planets is damn near impossible. The Intergalactic Postal Service offers the best paying, yet deadliest, jobs in the universe."

"The wild ensemble cast of SPACE BASTARDS features an unemployed accountant, a death row inmate, a divorced real estate agent, an alien immigrant, a raging alcoholic, a retired privateer, and a former executive assistant in their new lives delivering packages for the Intergalactic Postal Service. Under the volatile leadership of Postmaster General Roy Sharpton, these Space Bastards are forever at each other’s throats trying to settle scores and earn big money."

The oversized 132-page sci-fi romp promises to be "teeming with ultra-violence, humour and face-melting artwork". If that's not an incentive then I don't know what is.

At the time of writing the campaign has amassed funding of £10,137 and has been backed by 195 backers. The Kickstarter campaign will run until 20th February and is well worth checking out. There's also a wealth of backer rewards on offer too. If you're like me and based in the UK or overseas from the USA, check out the FAQ on shipping before you pledge.

It may cost a little more, but it's going to be worth every penny!
