Comic Book Review - Superman: Lost #1

Image
Rob reviews Superman: Lost #1... Superman: Lost   offers an interesting idea for Lois and Clark. What happens if Superman finds himself separated from everything - and everyone - he has knows for decades? But what about if these years only lasted mere moments for those he left behind? How would Superman cope? And what would cause The Man of Steel to lose all this time? Well, that's what Christopher Preist , Carlo Pagulayan , and Jeromy Cox set to answer as they send Supes far into space.  With the whole mini-series set to take place over ten issues, this opening provides the set-up. Not only does this issue serve to show how Superman ended up being lost in space, but it also shows the effect that the last twenty years have had on his mental health. What already makes this series a must-read is how Preist deals with this change. For Bruce Wayne and Lois, he physically looks no different, yet inside he's had a troubling time in getting home.  Regardless of wha...

Comic Book Review - A Very British Affair

Rob reviews A Very British Affair: The Best of Classic Romance Comics... When 2000 AD/Treasury of British Comics brand manager Michael Molcher dropped into my inbox with the press release of A Very British Affair: The Best of Classic Romance Comics - I initially scoffed at the idea of reviewing the book. For starters, I'm not one for romance. Reading about people falling in love and having a lovely time does make my stomach churn. Am I just a heartless bastard? Or has the daily grind of dealing with the public made me an emotionless robot? Well, the truth is, I like my comics with a bit of grit. But, there was something about Michael 's press release that resonated with the weird historian who dwells inside me. "This is some of the finest romance comics from a genre that once dominated the industry, selling millions of copies in the 1960s and ‘70s before vanishing almost overnight" From here on I had many questions. "What happened for romance comics t...

Warhammer: Warhammer Age Of Sigmar: Stormbringer Issue #1 Review

Image
The Age of Sigmar has arrived as Rob delves into the magazines offerings… Starting a couple of weeks back, weekly magazine powerhouse Hatchette Partworks started a new Warhammer magazine collection. This time focusing on the Mortal Realms within the Age Of Sigmar, each week (or monthly for subscribers) sees the magazine focus on the Age of Sigmar Third Edition with readers being able to build two armies - the Stormcast Eternal and the Orruk Kruleboyz.  As primarily a fan of the Warhammer 40K universe I’m prepared to shelve my bolters, and bid Mccragge farewell for the more simple age of swords, shields, and plain old magic. So come with me as we jump straight into the first issue! Kicking this new series off is the typical heavily discounted issue. Coming with a plethora of extras such as a fairly decent play mat, six D6 dice, a full army list, and a lot of subscription leaflets. The main draw however comes down to the included Knight-Arcanum and Killaboss (with Stab-Grot) miniatur...
