Princess Maker Refine heads to Steam

Princess Maker Refine - the game that pioneered the social simulation genre is now available on PC via Steam...

Published by Bliss Brain Corporation, who were jointly behind last year's western release of the Wonder Boy Collection, have now brought Princess Maker Refine to Steam as a standalone game. Charging players as the caregiver to a 10-year old girl, Princess Maker was highly praised for its original ideas and content.

'You are a war hero who saved the kingdom from the brink of destruction by a demon army. Weary of death and destruction, you decide to raise a war orphan as your own daughter.Her dream is to become a princess. You must educate this innocent girl and raise her to be a respectable woman. Her future happiness and prosperity are dependent on your efforts.

The love you give to her and her dreams will eventually become something beautiful...'

This impressive 'Refine' edition features a repainted version of the graphics - which were limited to 16 colours in the original. It also features voice acting for all characters in the game, not just the adopted daughter.

An original opening cinematic sequence has been added to this edition which has been produced by Yonago GAINAX under the leadership of the original GAINAX "Princess Maker" designer; Takami Akai.

Original fame designer; Takami Amaki had this to say - ‘I'd like to thank everyone who has shown so much love for "Princess Maker" since its release in 1991. I am very pleased that you will be able to enjoy the world of "Princess Maker" on a deeper level with this new, comprehensively-improved translation. I also had a wonderful time drawing familiar characters for the opening animated cinematic sequence that was added to this version. I hope you enjoy watching it as much as I enjoyed drawing it.’

Comic Book Review - The Best of 2000 AD Vol. 3

Rob reviews The Best of 2000 AD Vol.3… The ‘Ultimate Mix-Tape’ of 2000 AD’s greatest hits is back for its third volume. Packed with an array of specially curated strips, The Best of 2000 AD series does its very best in introducing you to the world of Tharg, and his Thrillverse. Much like its predecessors, this volume offers up an enticing mixture of strips and feature that draw across all corners of the wider 2000 AD mythos. While we do get a couple of standard trips to Mega-City 1 with Judge Dredd, series Editor Owen Johnson shows us the anthologies more “Tales of the Unexplained” side as things get a little bizarre. Personally, this third volume has been my favourite out of the series so far. Not only does it feature a Judge Dredd written by Michael Carroll, we also have the debut of Ian Edginton and D’Israeli.
