Video Game Review - Dredge

Image
What lurks in the deep?  It’s been a long day out at see and the sun is fading in the sky. My little fishing boat is laden with fish, and I’m heading back to the friendly town that’s now my home. As I rock up to the friendly fish monger, he tells me stories of mutant fish that have been found lurking in the deep. I then sell my cargo and head off to rest. The next day I head back out into the blue beyond and continue to fish. During my latest haul I manage to pick up a mackerel that’s so hideously mutated it doesn’t resemble a fish…maybe that old cook was right! As I’m still reeling from this revelation, something much larger emerges from the deep!  Dredge is best described as an Eldrich horror that’s been entwined with a very addictive fishing roguelike. It’s a game that captures you within its net, and does let go until you’ve seen the credits roll. It’s both relaxing, and nightmare inducing, and it just so happens to be the best game I’ve played this year.  So,...

Guess who’s back?… Strap yourselves in and get ready for a belated return to the 2000 AD Prog. That’s right! This time Niemand takes us into the lows of Mega-City One as Dredd takes somewhat of a back seat to ...

Advanced Review - Bolt-01: A Tribute To Dave Evans

Image
A tribute to a comic great… For those who knew him, Dave Evans was the go-to guy when it came to the British Small Press scene. The overseer to 2000 AD fanzines Zarzaz and Dogbreath, Evans  worked with many talented artists, and writers who contributed to the projects he helmed. When he wasn’t attending comic conventions, or tutoring those he took under his wing, Evans  was busy lending his lettering skills to other independent works. Sadly in 2021, Evans succumbed to his inner demons which resulted in him taking his own life. Move forward to 2022 and Sentinel founders Alan Holloway and Ed Doyle were busy at work creating something that would act as a lasting tribute to the legacy that Dave Evans created. As such Bolt-01: A Tribute to Dave Evans was born. Utilising the powers of social media, Holloway and Doyle sent a shout out to those who worked with Evans, or brought one of his many FutureQuake Press productions to get in touch. To say that the response was less than incred...
