Video Game Review - Alice Gear Aegis CS: Concerto of Simulatrix

Image
Battle Arena Waifu… If you came into this review thinking that Alice Gear Aegis CS: Concerto of Simulatrix was going to be anything other than anime waifu’s clashing in a 3-D arena, with gatcha inspiration - you’d be sorely wrong. However, if you’re a fan of said sultry waifu battling it out in mechs. Well you’re in the right place.  Aside from having the longest title going, Alice Gear Aegis CS: Concerto of Simulatrix wears its heart on its sleeve. From first launching into the game, everything is unlocked, and there’s already a plethora of anime sirens to play through the campaign as. Trouble is however, the story mode isn’t that in-depth and aside from a few variances - it follows the same loop. That being said, the story isn’t very long, and you’ll soon plough through it in about 30-40 minutes. This then unlocks an additional three secret characters for you to battle with. Although by that time, you may not want to experience it all again.  That being said, while the nar...

Video Game Review - Fallen Knight

Rob reviews Fallen Knight on Xbox Series X... Fallen Knight is a cross between Arthurian Legends and the sci-fi atmosphere of Mega-Man. On paper, this mash-up sounds awesome - and to a large extent, it is. However,  Fallen Knight inescapably falls into the category of "just another Mega-Man clone". The story of  Fallen Knight is split across two parts. One side sees us playing as the noble and legendary warrior Lancelot. The other places you into the boots of the assassin, Galahad. Both techno-inspired Knights are on a crusade to stop The Purge, a militant religious group that's attempting to take over the city.  It all feels very Mega-Man inspired as The Purge takes up residency across various districts, with 5-bosses needing to be thwarted. Well if the systems worked for Capcom for all these years then it must be good?  The gameplay consists of two variations that fall to your chosen Knight. Play as Lancelot and you're given the conventional Mega-Man g...

Video Game Review - Gravity Heroes

Image
Rob reviews Gravity Heroes on Xbox One... Gravity Heroes is a gravity-defying title from the developer, Electric Monkeys . Gravity Heroes is a sci-fi shmup that's a homage to titles such as Mega Man, Super Metroid and plenty of old-school arcade titles. The basics of the game are the ability to shift gravity at will. In theroy, this should make for a frantic, challenging shooter - which it most definitely is. Nevertheless, what Gravity Heroes lacks is a fun factor.  Gravity Heroes isn't technically 'a bad game', what it's let down by is a random assortment of design issues that make it a dull and lacking experience - especially if you're a solo player.  So...playing this game solo isn't ideal. Playing it with a player 2 isn't ideal either, but it's a little bit better than being alone. Why? Well, it's all to do with the difficulty. Regardless of how you play Gravity Heroes , the difficulty stays the same. What this means is that a so...
