DLC Review - Kao The Kangaroo: Bend The Roo’les

Image
Rob reviews Bend The Roo’les DLC pack for Kao The Kangaroo on Xbox Series X… Back in June 2022, our very own Ellie reviewed the remake of 2000’s Sega Dreamcast anthropomorphic platformer Kao The Kangaroo - and judging by her 8.5/10 scoring - she had a blast with the platformer.   Fast forward to now, and it’s my turn to check out Bend The Roo’les, a standalone expansion pack that sees Kao take on a terror from the deep. With the game already experiencing multiple cosmetic packs, and last years Halloween themed content, it’s clear that developers Tate Multimedia still have a lot up their sleeves when it comes to furthering Kao’s adventures. So with a new set of levels, plenty of new moves, and an even bigger bad guy to beat, let’s get to it.  Taking place after the main games conclusion, Kao finds himself at peace with the world. Well that is until King Crab rises from the deep. With no choice but to save the world again, Kao dons his signature boxing gloves and sets off on an...

Video Game Review - Dying Light 2: Bloody Ties DLC

Rob reviews Dying Light 2: Bloody Ties DLC... Across Dying Light 2 's sprawling campaign, I was left with one burning question, "what do the people of Villedor do for fun?". While I can't imagine that there is much "fun" to be had during a zombie apocalypse, it's the downtime between foraging for supplies or battling rival factions that begs the question.  Thankfully, Techland has answered this question with their first piece of story DLC for Dying Light 2 . Dubbed " Bloody Ties ", this brand-new content takes Aiden out of the Villedor streets, and under the spotlights of Carnage Hall. It's here that a brutal gladiatorial arena has made a home for itself, and it's another mountain Aiden will have to climb in need of the "greater good" - and tackle its nefarious ruler "Skullface". Despite being DLC, Bloody Ties doesn't take place after the end of the main narrative. In fact it doesn't...

Video Game Review - Maneater: Truth Quest DLC

Rob reviews Maneater: Truth Quest DLC on Xbox Series X... Tripwire brought something fresh to the table with their 2020 shaRkPG Maneater . The tale of Man Vs. Shark in a GTA style setting was both crazy and quite good. Whilst its mission structure outstayed its welcome, the open world, the shark, and narrator Trip Westhaven were the shining diamond within the rough.  Not content on letting sleeping a bull shark lie, Tripwire are back with Maneater: Truth Quest. This new piece of DLC continues the story of Trip Westhaven whilst also trying to explain the why to the many mutations our shark gains throughout its journey. It's a very tongue-in-cheek conspiracy journey that'll much like the base game - doesn't take its self too seriously.  The shining star of this new DLC is Chris Parnell - the voice behind Trip Westhaven. Parnell sells the narrative behind Truth Quest as he rants about conspiracy theories whilst dishing out random bull shark facts. The...

Video Game Review - Train Sim World 2 - Southeastern Sprint

Rob Lake checks out the Southeastern High-Speed DLC for Train Sim World 2... The much loved and incredibly detailed train simulation game, Train Sim World 2 has received yet another piece of DLC.  This time around Dovetail Games takes us to the Southeast of the UK with the Southeastern High-Speed DLC . This new piece of content sees you take control of the day-to-day operations of the high-speed St. Pancras to Faversham line, as well as your more slow-speed domestic routes too.  The main bulk of this DLC will see you inside the cabin of the BR Class 395 EMU, which is decked out in its 10th-anniversary livery from 2019. Throughout our journey across the southeast, you'll have to contend with the power change over at Ebbsfleet International as well as learning the TVM430 signalling that makes up the HS1 line (High-Speed 1), and the more traditional signals from the regular lines. If the hustle and bustle of the more domestic route is your thing you can also take co...
