Comic Book Review - Blade Runner Origins: Vol. 2: Scrap

“More human than human” is our motto… It’s been a while since I re-read Titan Comics Blade Runner prequel, Blade Runner Origins. With the comic publisher recently sending me a copy of Blade Runner 2039: Vol.1: Luv to review, I thought it’s best to jump in from the beginning and experience the whole series in preparation.   I’ve previously reviewed the first volume of Blade Runner: Origins, which you can check out here . As such I won’t be recapping previous events aside from a few flashbacks.  Taking place in the immediate aftermath of Effie’s assassination by Ilora Stahl, NYPD Detective Cal Moreaux finds himself teaming up with a Replicant who’s conscious is that of the deceased Tyrell Corp researcher, Dr. Lydia Kine. Now known as Asa, Kine and Cal must work together to track down a rogue Nexus 5 Replicant who’s “awakening” those Replicants deemed to be past their use by date. With the threat of a Replicant uprising, and Ilora Stahl, Cal gets dragged into the seedy underbelly...

Rob reviews Blade Runner Origins: Vol.1 - Products... With the latest instalment to Titan Comics Blade Runner Origins series now on comic book shelves, the publisher has been kind enough to send me the previous two volumes to get up to date. As such I'll be reviewing both Blade Runner: Origins Vol. 1 & Vol. 2, before wrapping the series up with Vol. 3.  Since its launch back in 1982, Ridley Scott 's phenomenal Blade Runner has set the tone for dystopian science fiction. While the world debated over whether Harrison Ford 's Detective Deckard was a Replicant or not, the Blade Runner world expanded into tie-in media that aimed to flesh out the overall story an...

Rob reviews Blade Runner: Origins - Volume 1... Ridley Scott's 1982 sci-fi dystopian Blade Runner is the go-to film when anyone talks about the cyberpunk genre. Scott's film introduced the world to a gorgeous sci-fi version of a 2019 Los Angeles, that was backed up by quite an intriguing story, and a colourful cast of characters.  Through Blade Runner,  we learnt about the Tyrell Corporation and their bio-engineered synthetic humans - the Replicants. As a rouge group of these Replicants - lead by the late Rutger Hauer - we follow veteran LAPD detective Rick Deckard as he attempts to track them down. What follows is a game of Cat & Mouse as Deckard deals with the rogue Replicants and subsequently falls in love with one too. The ending? Well does Blade Runner 2049 exist?  Now Titan Comics are returning to this classic franchise and are bringing a look into the worlds past. Set in 2009, Blade Runner: Origins follows grizzled veteran Detective Ca...
