Comic Book Review - Something Is Killing The Children #33

Image
Trials and tribulations as I return to SIKTC… It’s been quite a while since I last sat down to review James Tynion IV’s groundbreaking Something Is Killing The Children. While I’ve not put my thoughts down in a review, I have been keeping up with Erica’s latest work in the (not so) sleepy backwater town of Tribulation. So, with SIKTC # 33 now in the wilds, I’ve decided to jump back into the thick of it.  Calling this latest issue “the thick of it” is quite an overstatement. Don’t get me wrong, while there are small gains made to pushing the story forward, it’s incredibly frustrating. Moving on from issue #32 the cast are still in the somewhat down-time area of their troubles. The Duplicitype still out there, and with the arrival of the newcomers you’d think there’d be a lot going on. Instead we get an issue that focuses on the inevitable battle between Erica and Cutter.  Over the course of the 30-something pages, there’s very little to get excited about. Where the series has h...

Rob reviews Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #108… Things slow down this week as we finally learn the origins behind Mistress Vile’s mysterious partner. As Vessel’s origin is revealed what ramifications will it bring to the wider MMPR mythos?  Kicking things off back in the not-so distant past, Mistress Vile and Alpha-1 are hunting for something on the planet Bizark. This soon turns out to be the resting place for Zordon’s body which was placed on Bizark after Rita stripped his consciousness and trapped the Eltarian within the time vortex. Needing a “vessel” for the Dark Spectre, Mistress Vile sees the body of her arch nemesis as the perfect host.  Flash forward and we then find ourselves in the present day as the battle for Earth continues. Across the next few panels we get some gorgeous work from the returning Marco Renna  that illustrates Vessel heading towards his target, while chaos rains all around. With the Command Centre in his sights, Vessel effortlessly dispatches w...

Comic Book Review - Mighty Morphin #20

Rob reviews Mighty Morphin #20... It's been a tough few issues for Rocky and Matt as they attempt to counter the plans of King Aradon and his Machine Kingdom. The grueling battle has seen the two Rangers essentially utilise stalling tactics to run down the clock whilst the rest of the team tries to complete their mission in the Lion Galaxy. But what happens when the clock runs out?  Picking up directly where Mighty Morphin #19 left off and Alpha-5 is still charming the socks off King Vieron. It's quite a comedic moment as Alpha utilises his connected databases to make Vieron putty in his hands. It also gives Kimberly and Adam time to infiltrate the Palace to deactivate the teleport lock that's keeping the new Command Center in place.  We then switch back to Earth as Rocky and Matt are in the heat of their battle with the villainous King Aradon. Where previous issues have seen Mat Groom explore Aradon's character, it's here where it all comes crashing d...
