Warhammer 40K Kill Team: Pathfinders Review

Image
The Pathfinder Kill Team for Warhammer 40,000: Kill Team is a fascinating, dynamic, and tactically rich team that embodies the high-tech, fast-paced warfare of the T’au Empire. As one of the most versatile teams, Pathfinders bring a unique combination of mobility, ranged firepower, and powerful strategic abilities to the arena. But are they the right team for you? Let’s dive into the details. Lore and Background The T’au Empire is a technologically advanced and expansionist faction that seeks to bring unity to the galaxy under the banner of the Greater Good. Unlike many factions in Warhammer 40K, the T’au prioritize diplomacy and cooperation—at least until their goals are met with resistance, at which point they bring overwhelming firepower to the battlefield. Pathfinders are elite reconnaissance troops within the Fire Caste, the warrior class of the T’au. Their primary role is to scout enemy positions, mark targets for heavier fire support, and engage in hit-and-run skirmishes. Rather...

Re:Play Episode #5 - Death Stranding

Image
Over the last couple of months I’ve been playing through Death Stranding as it’s finally made its long awaited release on the Xbox Series X. I’ve been a fan of Hideo Kojima’s work for quite a while and it all started back in middle school when I got my hands on Metal Gear Solid. While I could have experienced Death Stranding on the PlayStation 5, those who know me will already know that my Xbox is my go to console. So while the epic journey of Sam Bridges has been seen by numerous people in the years since its initial release, much like Sam - I was treading new ground within a very unique world. When Death Stranding was released in November 2019, it was heralded as one of the most ambitious and divisive games in recent memory. Directed by Hideo Kojima, the legendary creator of the Metal Gear series, it was the first project from his independent studio, Kojima Productions, following his high-profile split from Konami. Promising to redefine the boundaries of what games could achieve, Dea...

Review: Madness & Monsters

Image
“An epic set of Myths: Monsters, Madness, War, Betrayal, Redemption, Isolation and Forgiveness all with a deeply psychological steer” Madness & Monsters is a 132-page anthology graphic novel that’s been created by Laurence Alison. Alongside a very talented team of artists, colourists, and letterers, Alison takes us on an epic journey across six tales full of monsters, madness, forgiveness, war, and redemption. As of writing the graphic novel is currently seeking funding via the crowdfunding website Kickstarter. Currently, the campaign sits at 100 % funding with 16 days remaining - so there’s still plenty of time to secure your copy! While I’m now very selective over what I back on Kickstarter, let’s just say that Madness & Monsters impressed me enough to hit that pledge button to add a physical copy to my bookshelf.  Much like my other anthology reviews, I won’t go into too much depth on each strip as I’m doing so will sour the experience. As such this review will almost a...

Review: Magik #1

Image
‘Magik #1’ takes a walk on the supernatural side as Illyana Rasputin sets off on her post-Krakoa adventure… Since the fall of the mutant island Krakoa it seems that Marvel Comics is going all out on giving us a new X-Men-related series each week. This week also seems to follow the trend as Magik #1 heads to comic book shelves. Normally I’m not that into reading about mutant kind, however since the launch of “From the Ashes” I have been drawn to the various series that fall under the umbrella narrative. Naturally, it was given that I’d dive straight into Magik #1.  This issue opens up in a small town in Alaska where the citizens are seemingly being dragged away into oblivion by a demonic force. This suburban horror is then cut to Magik as the mutant is suffering from a nightmare. While a simple scene in itself it does do a good job in briefing new readers on who Magik is while not bogging the issue down with needless exposition. Anyway, once this is over the rest of the X-Men attemp...

Review: 2000 AD Prog 2414

Image
It’s the first 2000 AD outing of 2025 as Tharg brings Prog 2414 across the Thrillverse… No faff, let’s dive straight into it shall we?  There’s a new Dredd thriller in town as Rob Williams and Arthur Wyatt continue to explore the ramifications of Account Judge Mainland’s assassination, Alec Worley continues to expand the Hawk the Slayer universe in ‘The Last of Her Kind’, tensions rise in ‘Portals & Black Goo’, Constanta heads West in ‘Fiends of the Western Front’, and Cyd finds an arachnophobes worst nightmare in ‘The Out’  Judge Dredd: Soft - Part 1 (Rob Williams, Arthur Wyatt, Jake Lynch, Jim Boswell, Annie Parkhouse) With the release of Judge Dredd: A Better World just around the corner (29th January) it’s the perfect time to continue to build the story of the late Accounts Judge; Maitland. Avid readers will already know that Maitland was behind quite a controversial decision in Mega-City One - fund education to reduce crime rates. While Chief Judge Logan was behind t...

Review: Cable: Love & Chrome #1

Image
Due to my holiday break I’m a little late on this one, but Cable: Love & Chrome #1 is arguably my COTY (Comic Of The Year) for 2025. Why? Well read on… Much like other Marvel characters, Cable is one who’s gone through a multitude of changes since his debut. From team-ups and fallouts, Cable has seen his fair share of ups and downs. Now with David Pepose at the helm, Cable heads back to his roots - albeit with a bit of Mad Max thrown in.  Taking place after Krakoa’s fall (seriously Marvel are milking this new era), Cable finds himself in a place called Salvation Bay. It’s a place that the seasoned veteran hasn’t heard of before, and it’s a world whose salvations is soon thrown into his hands. With no choice but to accept an offer by the one person who saved his life, Nathan Summers is soon drawn back to doing what he does best - gratuitous violence.  For those who’ve read my previous reviews on David Pepose’s Punisher reboot will know that the writer isn’t a stranger for p...

Novel Review - The Horus Heresy: The Siege of Terra - The Solar War

Image
It’s been quite the eventful year since my challenge of reading the entirety of the Horus Heresy saga began. While I’m still yet to be fully up to date with the galaxy-spanning story of rebellion, I have finally reached The Siege of Terra part of the story.  Now Horus and his band of renegades have found their way to Terra, I thought it was time that I gave yet another review that started way back when with Horus Rising. So come with me as I dive into The Horus Heresy: The Siege of Terra - The Solar War.  I jumped straight into this one fresh from the pages of the previous book; The Buried Dagger which took a look into Mortarion’s fall from grace and into the arms of the Chaos God Nurgle. While the overall plot was not too bad, as a Death Guard player I felt somewhat betrayed by writer James Swallow. While Swallow dealt with Typhus’ betrayal of Mortarion, to Mortarion’s damnation of the Death Guard to Nurgle quite well, I felt it could have been fleshed out a lot more. Instead...
